🛒 Ingredients

5 servings

5
  • 1 cup parboiled rice (do not rinse)
  • 1 sachet garlic-flavored bouillon powder (approx. 8 g)
  • 4 tablespoons grated carrots
  • 5 broccoli florets
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

  1. 1

Sauté the diced onion in olive oil over medium heat until golden. Do not add garlic or salt at this stage.

  2. 2

Add the dry, unrinsed rice to the pan, stir well, and mix in the garlic bouillon powder. Toast the rice, stirring occasionally, until lightly golden.

  3. 3

Pour boiling water over the rice — roughly two finger-widths above the rice level.

  4. 4

Immediately add the grated carrots and broccoli florets. Stir gently once to unstick any rice from the bottom, then cover and cook without stirring until the water is fully absorbed.

  5. 5

Check for doneness: the rice should be al dente and the bottom dry. If needed, add a small splash of hot water and cook 2–3 more minutes.

  6. 6

Serve right away. Avoid overcooking — the rice should stay slightly firm, never mushy.

💡 Chef's Tip

For a festive twist, stir in raisins, diced chicken ham, and peas in the last few minutes. A great trick for picky eaters: the vegetables blend right into the rice, adding color and nutrition without standing out.
