🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 2 lbs (1 kg) raw ground chicken, seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 7 oz (200 g) sliced cooked ham
  • 7 oz (200 g) sliced mozzarella
  • 1 medium carrot, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 7 oz (200 g) bacon strips (optional)
  • Dried herbs and extra seasoning to taste

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Lay a large sheet of plastic wrap flat on the counter and spread the seasoned ground chicken into an even rectangle about ½ inch (1 cm) thick.

  2. 2

Cover the chicken surface with overlapping ham slices, then a layer of mozzarella, and finally arrange the carrot strips evenly across the top, leaving a small border around all edges.

  3. 3

Using the plastic wrap as a guide, carefully roll the chicken into a tight log, pressing gently as you go. Unwrap and tie with kitchen twine to hold the shape during baking.

  4. 4

Transfer the roll to a lightly greased baking dish. If using bacon, drape the strips over the roll for extra flavor and a beautiful golden finish.

  5. 5

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 °F (75 °C). Rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

Chilling the assembled, uncooked roll in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking helps it hold its shape perfectly. Leftovers reheat beautifully in the oven the next day.
