🛒 Ingredients

5 servings

5
  • 500 g chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 200 g canned or fresh mushrooms
  • 1 cup (200 ml) heavy cream
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Shoestring potato sticks, to serve

Directions

  1. 1

Season the chicken cubes with salt, pepper and mayonnaise. Let marinate for 5 minutes.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  3. 3

Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and golden.

  4. 4

Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 6–8 minutes.

  5. 5

Stir in the mushrooms, mustard and ketchup. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring to combine.

  6. 6

Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently. Simmer on low heat for 4 more minutes.

  7. 7

Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.

  8. 8

Serve hot over white rice, topped with crunchy potato sticks.

💡 Chef's Tip

Marinating the chicken in mayonnaise before cooking keeps it juicy and adds a subtle richness to the sauce. Use fresh mushrooms sautéed separately for a deeper flavour.
