Venezuelan Arepas
Delicious Venezuelan arepas, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Made from corn flour, this traditional recipe is simple and flavorful. Serve them warm as a side dish or fill them as you prefer.

- 1 3/4 cups corn flour (masarepa)
- 1 1/4 cups lukewarm water
- 1/2 tsp salt

Pour the corn flour into a mixing bowl. Gradually add the salted water while mixing until a homogeneous dough is obtained.

Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

Shape the dough into small round patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.

Cook the arepas in a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat until a golden crust forms on each side.

Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until they sound hollow when tapped.

For more flavor, replace the water with chicken or beef broth. Arepas keep well and can be reheated.
