🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 500 g (1.1 lb) ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs (Herbes de Provence or Italian seasoning)
  • Fresh parsley to taste
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. 1

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, crushed garlic, and dried herbs. Stir well and let it rest off the heat for 5 minutes so the flavors can infuse.

  2. 2

Blend the onion and parsley with ½ cup of water until smooth.

  3. 3

Return the pan to medium-high heat. Pour the onion-parsley liquid and tomato paste over the meat. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Simmer over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is fully cooked and the sauce has reduced slightly.

  5. 5

Serve hot alongside rice, mashed potatoes, or fresh pasta.

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a splash of red wine or a pinch of smoked paprika at the start for a richer, deeper flavor. This dish freezes beautifully — make a double batch and save half for later.
