🛒 Ingredients

6 servings

6
  • 1 kg beef steaks (about 1 cm thick)
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 whole egg, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs as needed
  • Sunflower oil for frying
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (400 g) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Fresh parsley and chives to taste
  • 250 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Dried oregano to taste

Directions

  1. 1

Season the steaks with crushed garlic and salt. Let them rest for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 2

Beat the egg in a shallow dish. Dip each steak in the egg, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

  3. 3

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and arrange in an oven-safe dish.

  4. 4

In the same skillet, sauté the onion until translucent. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, parsley, and chives. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

Spoon the tomato sauce generously over each steak, then top with a layer of shredded mozzarella.

  6. 6

Sprinkle with dried oregano and bake at 200 °C (390 °F) for 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and lightly golden.

  7. 7

Serve hot alongside steamed white rice and creamy mashed potatoes. Enjoy!

💡 Chef's Tip

Double-coat the steaks in egg and breadcrumbs for an extra-crispy crust. The tomato sauce can be made the day before — it tastes even better the next day.
