🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 600 g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp hot paprika
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Breadcrumbs for coating
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until softened and lightly golden.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef, hot paprika, black pepper, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until the meat is browned and all the flavors are well combined.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and stir in the flour and lightly beaten eggs. Mix vigorously until a smooth, compact dough forms that pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  4. 4

Allow the mixture to cool for 15–20 minutes at room temperature until firm enough to shape by hand.

  5. 5

With lightly moistened hands, shape the dough into small oblong or round croquettes. Coat each one in flour, then beaten egg, then breadcrumbs.

  6. 6

Fry in hot oil until evenly golden and crisp on all sides. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra crunch, double-coat your croquettes by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps. The filling can be made a day ahead and stored covered in the fridge.
