🛒 Ingredients

8 servings

8
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) filet mignon, cut into strips
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 200 g (7 oz) cream cheese
  • 300 g (10 oz) shredded mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Dried oregano

Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 200 °C (390 °F).

  2. 2

Season the filet mignon strips with Worcestershire sauce and salt. Sear in a hot skillet with a drizzle of oil until browned on the outside — they don't need to cook through at this stage.

  3. 3

In the same pan, sauté the onion slices with a splash of Worcestershire sauce and salt until softened and lightly golden.

  4. 4

Spread the meat strips in an even layer across the bottom of a baking dish.

  5. 5

Top with sautéed onions, followed by half the cream cheese and a layer of mozzarella.

  6. 6

Repeat the layers: meat, onions, cream cheese, and mozzarella.

  7. 7

Sprinkle dried oregano over the top and bake 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Serve hot.

💡 Chef's Tip

Broil for the last 2 minutes to get an extra-crispy cheese crust. Sliced tomatoes scattered between layers add freshness and balance the richness.
