🛒 Ingredients

6 servings

6
  • 400 g (14 oz) ground beef
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) pitted green or black olives
  • 150 ml (⅔ cup) heavy cream
  • 200 g (7 oz) cream cheese or ricotta
  • ½ yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 200 g (7 oz) plain potato sticks or thin crisps
  • 200 g (7 oz) mozzarella, sliced
  • Salt, black pepper, dried oregano to taste

Directions

  1. 1

Season the ground beef with salt, pepper and oregano. Cook over medium heat until fully browned, then drain thoroughly, reserving the cooking juices. Set aside to cool slightly.

  2. 2

Pour the reserved cooking juices into a blender along with the cream cheese, heavy cream, onion and olives. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. 3

Spread the drained ground beef in a greased baking dish. Cover evenly with the potato sticks.

  4. 4

Pour the blended cream sauce over everything, then lay the mozzarella slices on top.

  5. 5

Bake at 180 °C / 350 °F for 15–20 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

  6. 6

Serve hot alongside steamed white rice or a fresh green salad.

💡 Chef's Tip

Not a fan of olives? Swap them for the same amount of canned sweet corn — it adds a lovely sweetness to the cream sauce. Leftovers reheat well in the oven at 160 °C for 10 minutes.
