🛒 Ingredients

10 servings

10
  • 1 package large lasagna sheets
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) ground beef
  • 1 can mixed vegetables, drained
  • 1 jar pitted olives
  • 1 can sweet corn, drained
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely diced
  • Fresh parsley and chives, chopped
  • 500 g (1.1 lbs) shredded mozzarella
  • 300 g (10 oz) sliced cooked ham
  • 800 g (28 oz) canned tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt, black pepper, dried oregano
  • Olive oil

Directions

  1. 1

Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until soft and translucent.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until well browned. Let any excess liquid evaporate.

  3. 3

Season with salt, pepper and oregano, then stir in a few spoonfuls of tomato sauce to bind the filling.

  4. 4

Mix in the diced bell pepper, corn, olives and fresh herbs. Remove from heat and set aside.

  5. 5

Make a quick tomato sauce: sauté garlic in oil, add the canned tomato sauce, season with salt and simmer for 10 minutes.

  6. 6

Cook the lasagna sheets one by one in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain carefully.

  7. 7

In a baking dish, layer lasagna sheets, meat filling, ham slices, mozzarella and a light spoonful of tomato sauce. Do not over-sauce between layers.

  8. 8

Repeat until the dish is full. Finish with a generous layer of shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of dried oregano.

  9. 9

Bake at 180 °C (355 °F) for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

💡 Chef's Tip

Add a thin layer of béchamel between some layers for extra creaminess. The meat filling can be made the day before to save time.
