Directions
- 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion for 3 minutes until softened, then add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
- 2
Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned all over. Season generously with salt, pepper, and add the bay leaves.
- 3
Pour in the tomato sauce and water, stir to combine. Partially cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 4
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
- 5
Transfer the pasta to a large serving dish. Drizzle the heavy cream evenly over the pasta, then ladle the meat sauce generously on top.
- 6
Serve immediately, optionally topped with grated Parmesan and a side of green salad.
💡 Chef's Tip
For extra depth, stir a pinch of dried oregano into the sauce while it simmers. Leftovers reheat beautifully — just add a splash of water to loosen the sauce. You can also finish it under the broiler with shredded cheese for a gratin-style version.
