🛒 Ingredients

4 servings

4
  • 600 g (1.3 lb) pork loin, cut into ¾-inch (2 cm) cubes
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • 1 cup canned pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into ½-inch (1 cm) pieces
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. 1

Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Dip pork cubes in beaten egg, then press them firmly into the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess.

  2. 2

Heat a generous amount of oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry the pork in batches for 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels and keep warm.

  3. 3

In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, vinegar, pineapple juice, ketchup, soy sauce, and a pinch of pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.

  4. 4

Dissolve cornstarch in cold water and pour into the boiling sauce while stirring constantly until thick and glossy.

  5. 5

Add the fried pork, pineapple chunks, and green pepper to the sauce. Stir well to coat everything evenly.

  6. 6

Cook over high heat for 5 minutes, stirring continuously, until everything is heated through. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

💡 Chef's Tip

For extra crunch, double-fry the pork: cook once, rest 5 minutes, then fry again at high heat for 2 minutes right before adding to the sauce. Red or yellow bell peppers also work beautifully for a sweeter finish.
